Engagements run over access you grant and can revoke — so distance changes neither the scope, the price, nor who does the work. What geography genuinely changes is the law that applies to your personal information. Here’s how, province by province.
Which law applies, depending on where you are
This is the first thing to settle in any compliance engagement, and the answer is not the same coast to coast. Three provinces have their own private-sector statute, recognized as substantially similar to the federal law and applied in its place inside the province. Everywhere else, the federal law applies by default.

One nuance that comes up often: PIPEDA continues to apply to federally regulated organizations — banks, telecommunications, interprovincial transport — even when they sit in Quebec, Alberta or British Columbia. PIPEDA also governs personal information moving between provinces. So we scope an engagement around the laws that genuinely apply to you, not just the one matching your address.
What "remote" actually means here
- Access you control. A least-privilege account you create, and revoke whenever you decide.
- No travel billed. An engagement costs the same in Iqaluit as in Ottawa.
- The same architect. No handoff to a regional team — there isn’t one.
- Scheduled in your time zone. Anything that could interrupt service is scheduled around your clock, not ours.
- In French or English. Everywhere, not only in Quebec.
And what it doesn’t mean
We have no office, address or team in Calgary, Vancouver, Toronto or the territories, and we won’t pretend otherwise. Engagements needing a physical presence — facility inspections, on-premises Wi-Fi testing, physical access testing — are not part of the offering anywhere.
Nor is it a round-the-clock availability commitment. The platforms and automation we implement run continuously; human review happens in business hours, agreed in advance.
Frequently asked questions
Do you really work across all of Canada, or only around Ottawa-Gatineau?
All of it, and the reason is structural rather than promotional: engagements are delivered remotely over access the client grants and can revoke. No site visit is required, no travel is billed, and distance changes neither the scope nor the price. The only things geography changes are the law that applies and the time zone. Our only local presence is in Gatineau, Quebec — we don’t claim one anywhere else.
Is privacy law the same across the country?
No, and it’s the most concrete difference province to province. Three provinces have their own private-sector privacy statute that displaces the federal law inside their borders: Quebec (Law 25), Alberta (PIPA) and British Columbia (PIPA). Everywhere else — Ontario, the Prairies, Atlantic Canada and all three territories — federal PIPEDA applies by default. Quebec’s Law 25 is the most demanding of the four, particularly on transfers outside the province and on privacy impact assessments.
How do you handle the time difference with British Columbia or the territories?
We work Eastern time, from the Aylmer sector of Gatineau. For a client in Vancouver or Victoria that leaves a useful overlap in our early afternoon and your morning; for Calgary the overlap covers most of the working day. Anything that could interrupt service is scheduled in your time zone, not ours. To be clear, none of that is a round-the-clock availability promise — it’s scheduling agreed in advance.
Do you do on-site work in Calgary, Vancouver or elsewhere?
No. Delivery is fully remote by design rather than by limitation: that means no travel costs, no waiting for an on-site slot, and the same architect from start to finish wherever you are. Engagements that would require a physical presence — inspecting facilities, on-premises Wi-Fi testing, or physical access testing — are not part of the offering anywhere, including in Ottawa.
Is French service available everywhere, or only in Quebec?
Everywhere. Engagements, reports and correspondence run in French or English at the client’s choice, whether you’re in Montreal, Winnipeg or Whitehorse. It’s a working-language question, not a regional one.
